Austrans Attended The IFAT Munich Trade Fair

“World’s Leading Trade Fair for Water, Sewage, Waste and Raw Materials Management.”

Austrans is leading the charge for change by actively participating in global events and conducting site tours to observe various approaches to waste management and strategies adopted by other countries. One such pivotal event was the IFAT Munich Trade Fair, serving as a networking and knowledge platform that brings together key international industry representatives. A place where politics, business, and science come together to offer solutions and ideas for industrial and municipal challenges.

“Austrans is dedicated to staying ahead of the game and always looking for opportunities to improve safety procedures through the means of technology.” – Mitchell Cleary, HSEQ & Compliance Manager

The IFAT Munich Trade Fair was a great success for Austrans who are always looking for ways to be more efficient through innovation. As one of the biggest events in the world, it was a great investment for Austrans who always want to be at the forefront of how to lead the way and how best to serve their customers.

At the event, Austrans engaged with numerous suppliers, fostering valuable relationships with those who provide their products, while also evaluating how these offerings align with Australian standards. The event offered a unique opportunity to not only explore the latest trucks on the market but also to witness the transformative impact of robotics on the industry.

“By observing the technologies and applications in use around the world, Austrans could better assess which innovations would most benefit our future operations.” – Peter McClennan, General Manager

Within the waste and recycling sector, the upcoming IFAT Munich Trade Fair emphasised the importance of recycling. Recognised as the largest international trade fair for the water, wastewater, recycling, and municipal technology sectors, it was an ideal venue for Austrans to engage with this year. Spanning eight halls, featuring a spacious outdoor area, and showcasing numerous exhibits, the fair presented cutting-edge ideas and solutions for the industry.

The trade fair went through all the elements of recycling and the idea of a circular economy, how to be more efficient with our resources, and how to improve our waste management. It looked at mechanical and chemical processes in the recycling industry and how they can be improved, and it highlighted exciting start-ups that could transform the future. The program showed what is involved in sustainable water infrastructure and how to deal with future challenges such as water scarcity and flooding. The trade fair is a solutions-based event that is very important for the industry, and Austrans was happy to be a part of it.

Here are just some of the key highlights from the event:

  • We visited the KOKS Robotics stand to explore cutting-edge robot technology for no-man-entry tank cleaning.
  • We had an insightful discussion with Dräger about their emergency escape/rescue equipment for confined spaces, including the latest Bluetooth-enabled gas monitoring devices.
  • At the Jetstream stand, we delved into the distribution and applications of industrial water blasting pumps.
  • We observed impressive demonstrations at the Sewer Robotics stand.
  • At the Gerotto stand, we engaged in discussions about advanced robotics.
  • We examined how Sentinel Automation Technology integrates with StoneAge’s AutoBox 3L tractor, utilising an active sensor system to automatically position cleaning nozzles and clean exchanger tubes end-to-end, even in challenging low-visibility conditions.
  • We had a productive conversation with Woma about potential future partnerships.
  • At the TST stand, we discovered innovative blasting PPE, including an air-fed vest designed for cooling.

And much more.

While on their travels, Austrans also embarked on site tours organised by Cappellotto and Gerotto. KOR Equipment Solutions, comprising a team of seasoned industry professionals specialising in hydro excavation, waste recovery, drain cleaning, and vacuum loading, led a site tour across several Cappellotto manufacturing plants. The tour kicked off at the Cappellotto Gaiarine plant, situated approximately one hour north of Venice. Subsequently, the group journeyed to Verona to explore the Villafranca assembly plant located on the outskirts of the city. En route, they also visited Gerotto, their Italian supplier renowned for providing remote-controlled robotics for demonstration purposes. Austrans also went to the Falch Water jetting factory, a large modern factory with only one target – to build the best water jetting machines of the world!

Austrans buys a lot of specialised industrial equipment from KOR, so it was great to visit their factories and see first-hand how the trucks are manufactured.

Austrans had a great time at IFAT Munich Trade Fair and the site tours, gaining knowledge into the future of the industry to constantly improve their own standards of excellence through safe and cost-effective methods.
